Happy Holidays!

Christmas has come and gone again. It has been wild weather here.... cold one day...73 degrees yesterday with violent storms last night and now cold again!!!!

I had a great day with my family on Christmas. Dad made some awesome smoked ham and shared with me and the gang. Mom and Dad went to the movies in the afternoon to see the release of Marley and Me. Mom could not stop hugging me when she got home....

My "aunt" Patience picked me as Pet of The Week for I List. Mom sent the link to her dog friends and they wrote back lots of nice things about me. Thanks Aunt Patience for a great article. I am honored to be amongst your finest especially my good Friend "Frodo" who is a "survivor" as well.

Happy Holidays Friends!!!!!!!

We are thankful for so many things, our family and friends (canine and human) and recognize that we take so many things for granted.....Please remember the rest of the world this Thanksgiving in prayer who aren't as fortunate as we are...

Here's a video of my friends from Dogs with Blogs. Although it is a parody from the original video from Band Aid, the message is the same.

Happy Thanksgiving All From Henry and Family!!

One World Run

photo - mom and "Jack" CH Hit The Road Jack II CGC OA NAJ NRD-

Mom and Jack participated in the One World Run today in Paducah. Proceeds benefit AIDS Orphans in Africa. Jack was a good dog as mom wanted to walk most of the way. Jack got lots of applause when he and mom crossed the finish line. I think it reminded him of his "show dog days" as everyone said how handsome he was and he was struttin' his stuff! He's my good friend and a good walking partner for mom. They announced that proceeds that were made would benefit 40 children for a year....it was a good day...

Here's a view of the fountain at the park and more than 1/2 through the 5K walk!

The Finish Line is within view!!! GO JACKPOT!!!

AKC Launches Marley and Me Campaign

AKC launches a new video and press release on upcoming Marley and Me movie. Hopefully this will educate folks that Labs aren't for everyone. We grow up from the adorable little furball to a large adult dog that needs and wants lots of exercise, likes to chew a lot (see previous post on brother Wilson). My mom says us labs are three year olds in furry bodies.

Lab Nationals

Breeze, Mom and I traveled to Newnan Georgia last week for Labrador Nationals. It was a long trip but boy did I have fun. I was once surrounded by 8 beautiful yellow girls, can't get any better than that!!! Here's a group photo sent by my mom's friend Babette of Indy's kids & family.

Can You Say -YELLOW HEAVEN!!!

I thought I was PDC (Pretty Darn Cute) in my handsome black vest with my Chase Away Cancer patch. Everyone thought I was a service dog and mom had to explain that I had been sick and needed it to help me get up and down sometimes.

I met some really nice people and hope to be there for Nationals in 2009!!

HAPPY RETIREMENT INDY!!!!!
MACH Indy and Ellen enjoyed a nice retirement party for Indy. I got my picture made with my friend Indy and mom gave me some raspberry flavored cake. YUMMMYY!!!!

Here are some more photos of my friends and mom at Nationals. My dad made a jump seen in the background of one photos. My lab friends donated for a raffle and raised $265 for Canine Health Foundation!!!! My friend "True" (The CUTEST yellow girl from GA) and her mom won the jump.

Henry Goes Pink!!

In Honor of October's Breast Cancer Awareness, we are going PINK!!!

Mom ordered a shirt from friends at Dogs Afield with great yellow lab with proceeds going to Komen Foundation.

Poor Wilson

Introducing Canebrake The Cast Away - AKA "Wilson". He's my 7 month old brother (the one that ate the book). Wilson is named after the movie "The Cast Away" with Tom Hanks. I wish he was on an island!!

Mom came home last night to find Wilson's eye nearly swollen shut along with his nose. Looks like he got into a tangle with a wasp or bee and they won. Mom called our friend the vet and he took some medicine and is back to his normal annoying self today....sigh...I keep telling myself he will grow up soon and really he is a pretty good puppy considering...

Winds of Change

Remnants of IKE flew through Western KY this a.m. My mom (who thinks she would love to be a storm chaser) captured some scary wind on video. The sound in the video is not rain. It is the wind howling at 60-70 mph gusts and leaves blowing horizontally through the air. The tree that fell is over the fence. Mom had to quickly fix it so that the GSPs would not escape to freedom. Jack (AKA the Wise One and danger predictor of the family) told us it was the real thing and we better seek shelter. We all followed suit and not a peep was heard throughout the ordeal. The sun is shining now with a calm wind. Life is Good again.... Henry V

In memory of 9/11 families and victims, I wanted to revisit the story of Roselle the yellow lab who assisted her owner down 78 flights of stairs to safety.....We will never forget.....

Dog Days of Summer

Summer is gearing down around here but Wilson (my annoying 7 month old black lab "brother") is just getting started. Mom keeps telling me "he has a lot to learn" and boy does he!

Mom put him in "time out" for chewing one of my mom's lab books up -that was stupid Wilson.

**Responsible dog owner tip - Crates are a GOOD thing. Dogs view these are their safe place and keeps us out of trouble when our humans are busy with work and tempting things are near and humans can't watch us.

No, this isn't snow in September. Mom got tired of seeing yellow fur flying around in the house and brushed my hair. Sophie and Belle thought it was hilarious (doesn't take much to amuse those two California girls LOL).

This is me afterwards sitting in my "throne" Dad's $1500 leather chair. Don't I look handsome! Mom is just happy to see me sitting here as one month ago I couldn't even hardly lift myself without help.

Hope you all have a great day. It's time for my nap and I will dream about "big water" and all kinds of fun stuff.

Chao!

Inspiration

The Olympics have come and gone again. The determination and courage that the athletes have shown is truly amazing. My mom loved the swimming and the track/field stuff. She would stand up and get excited when the races were close and it would make me bark thinking about running around. My mom says I'm a hero and she made a video about me when I was sick. She named it "courage" and posted it to my friends. I guess I made a lot of friends at agility trials over the years because mom had my strangers and old friends ask about me over the last two months. Mom has promised me that I would get to go visit when I am much better to repay all the good wishes from everyone. I am proud to be an American but like the "GO WORLD!!" theme. Have a great day!

First Post

Henry's my name, agility's the game... or so it was as I am enjoying retirement. I live with my family in Western Kentucky with my human mom and dad, and my canine family of 8. We drive our humans crazy some times but most of the time they let us do all kinds of fun things.

In the photo is my best friend "Sugar" the GSP. They call her the "Princess" but as you can see she loves me the best.

I know alot of human words so my mom has to spell them at times because I get really excited. My favorite are "GO, big water (ie game preserve lake), kennel club and cookie).

Unfortunately, I black out from time to time. My mom who is a nurse says that it is epilepsy. I have to take a pill every day which I don't mind too much as I get my own special peanut butter and then take a nap for a while.

Have some patience with my mom as she tries out my new blog. I'll be back with more stories about my family (human & canine) and adventures in life.
LABS ROCK!!!!!!
